Intro

10DLC (10 Digit Long Code) is a new technology for sending and receiving SMS messages. It is designed to improve the reliability and security of SMS messages, making them a more useful tool for businesses and organizations. In order to use 10DLC, you must register with a service provider. We provide every Laylo customer with the ability to acquire a 10DLC number.

TLDR;

This only applies to you if you are texting US based fans.

US cell phone carriers now require any marketing messages sent to US recipients to be fully registered via A2P routes. In order to do this, The Campaign Registry must manually vet your phone number and use case. This process usually takes 3-5 business days. While the phone number is registering, you cannot send text messages to US recipients. If you have an Alphanumeric Sender ID set up, you can continue texting fans outside the US.

If you are sending <3000 text messages per day, we recommend registering as a Sole Proprietor which will make the registration process faster.

New Changes as of January 26th, 2022

New phone numbers/campaigns now require registration that will be subject to a new vetting process, which includes a one-time $15 campaign vetting fee. (An A2P “Campaign” is a use case that defines the kind of SMS or MMS messages you’ll be sending.)

The Vetting process may take up to 15 days. During the approval period, you may continue using the phone number, but may experience slower send speeds and slightly impacted deliverability. We do not recommend launching a large campaign unless your phone number is fully registered

Who does this apply to, and why is it happening?

This change applies to anyone that is using a phone number to send SMS messages, and is being implemented by the TCR in an effort to reduce spam and fraud. Anyone who has an existing phone number / campaign with Laylo before January 26th is all good.
